Whats The Thing You Will Miss Most?

For those of you who have been diagnosed with Coeliac Disease, or those who have just chosen to follow a Gluten/Wheat free diet, what is it that you will miss most?

My husband Darren was never a great fan of cakes and sweet treats, but absolutely loved Pies, Sausage Rolls and things like Scotch Eggs!! His other great love was nice crusty bread.......yummy!!

I have to admit (and this is our personal opinion), that we have yet to find Gluten/Wheat free items that are as good as the 'real thing', but we have been very fortunate to find many items that are almost the same!

I am hoping over the next couple of days years, to give you some ideas as to what you can get which can be a very suitable alternative to the 'real thing'.

Have a good day!

Welcome to my First Post!!

Hello and a very warm welcome to my first blog post!

Just over 2 years ago, my husband was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease, and even though it is not a life threatening illness, it completely changed his life, and mine!!

Suddenly I was having to check the labels on every item of food I purchased. This meant that a weekly shop had suddenly gone from taking half an hour, to taking over an hour!

Eating out was also a complete nightmare, as he couldn't eat half of the 'naughty' foods that we had taken for granted!

After doing an awful lot of research, I have slowly began to understand what can and cant be eaten, and have adapted recipes to suit his needs! I also know what can be eaten at Fast Food restaurants and also other high street restaurants!

So why am I starting this blog I hear you say?? Well, most of my learning process came from reading other peoples blogs and websites, and picking up ideas along the way! If it wasn't for these people, I wouldn't be where I am today!!

I am hoping that whatever I write here on this blog, will help others to gain a bit more of an understanding of what Coealic Disease is, and how to live with it!

I would love to hear from anyone who has any questions!

Thanks
Nicky
